Worth spending more on

• Your feeding/recovery chair - you'll spend more waking hours here than almost anywhere else in the nursery, especially in the first months
• Crib mattress - directly tied to sleep safety, not a place to cut corners
• Anything tied to a real physical need, like a C-section recovery setup

Fine to save on

• Decorative wall art and matching decor sets
• A full newborn wardrobe (sizes get outgrown fast)
• Elaborate storage systems you can add later once you know your actual routine

The honest reframe

A higher-priced chair isn't a "treat yourself" purchase - it's the one item in the room you'll be using, daily, for hours, for the specific job of feeding and comforting your baby. Everything else in the nursery mostly just needs to exist.
